Jamal Gerald's Dudaan is looking for one more performer to join the Black queer ensemble for the upcoming production of JUMBIE, which plays at Transform 21-22 (Leeds) and HOME (Manchester) in March 2022.
JUMBIE is an interdisciplinary performance exploring the Jumbie dance of Montserrat through a contemporary queer perspective. JUMBIE will be part ritual, part sex club, part dance party – and fully WTF.
The ideal performer must:
- Be Black (African/Caribbean)
- Be Male or non-binary masculine-presenting
- Be Queer
- Have some experience of training in movement, dance and/or performance
- Be available 14/02/2022 - 26/03/2022
- Ideally, be based in the North of England
We want someone excited by the prospect of working on an unscripted piece that will be devised in the rehearsal room. Our ideal performer connects with the themes of JUMBIE and is motivated by the prospect of building the world.
